What is a sewer/sewer line and what is a drain? 

 There is a main sewer line running down the middle of your home which is your main sewer line or main trunk line.  Other drain lines (drain for kitchen sink, bathtub, shower, commode, washing machine, dishwasher, etc.) tie into that main sewer line. 

What are signs that I have a stoppage?

Water not going down the drain 

Commode will not completely flush

Gurgling toilet

When using a shower, commode will bubble

Water around base of commode

Water/Sewage coming out of pipes, called cleanouts, in yard

Water overflowing onto floor from washing machine drain

When running dishwasher, water fills into kitchen sink

What causes a stoppage?

Too much toilet paper

Hair in drain
Roots in line

Sludge or grease buildup

Collapsed pipes

Corroded pipes

Non flushing items such as paper towels, feminine products, q-tips, cotton-balls, kids’ toys, etc.
